It seems that all of us know at least one woman who struggles with infertility.I know more than one who has had a miscarriage. I know babies with birth defects.Once a rare occurrence these things are now considered normal, though just as unwelcome.
Although there is generally never just one reason to blame for infertility, among the culprits are genetically modified organisms (GMOs).Consumed on a daily basis by most Americans, GMOs have made it into nearly every food on the market.
For starters, there is nothing natural about genetically modified cropssuch as corn and soy. They are altered in such a way that they do not diewhen sprayed with pesticides so that the crop can be mass produced andgrown not by humans, but machines, and sprayed with pesticides from planesto kill everything but the genetically modified crop.
A real, natural plant would immediately die from the amount of pesticidesprayed (the pesticides themselves are a whole other story). But not GMOs.
Many people are eating it unknowingly in their chips, crackers, cereal, cookies, soda, seasoning, cooking oil, spread, deli meats, fruitpreserves, edamame, tofu, ‘artificial’ vegan meat, you name it –chances are it is loaded with either GMO soy or corn (or both).
Even all non-grass fed meat and dairy is guaranteed to be derived from cattlefed primarily a GMO diet. This is not something to take lightly if your entire dietconsists of GMO products. Here is why.
Numerous independent studies demonstrate again and againthat GMOs are not safe, while industry sponsored studies claim them as safe.
Of course if I produced a several billion dollar profit product I would do everythingin my power to keep it on the market.
A 2008 Austrian study found that GM corn hasa damaging effect upon the reproductive system.
Professor Don M. Huber of Purdue University has discovered a completely new, unknown organism within genetically modified crops that can cause miscarriages in farm animals.
PURDUE 大学的 DON M. HUBER 教授发现，在GMO的玉米中，含有一个种全新的未知生物体，它会导致家畜流产。
Being pregnant – I don’t want to be the one to personally discoverit can do the same in humans, since according to Huber the organism can cause disease in both animals and humans, which is rare.
Here is an excerpt from a letter by Don Huber:
这是 DON HUBER 的一封信的节选:
“Laboratory tests have confirmed the presence of this organismin a wide variety of livestock that have experienced spontaneous abortions and infertility.
Preliminary results from ongoing research have also been able to reproduce abortions in a clinical setting.
The pathogen may explain the escalating frequency of infertility and spontaneous abortions over the past few years in US cattle, dairy, swine, and horse operations.
These include recent reports of infertility rates in dairy heifers of over 20%,and spontaneous abortions in cattle as high as 45%.
For example, 450 of 1,000 pregnant heifers fed wheatlege experienced spontaneous abortions.
Over the same period, another 1,000 heifers from the same herdthat were raised on hay had no abortions.”
I don’t know about you, but I’m not going to wait until
some large corporation or the FDA/USDA get their act together.
I don’t want anyone in my family eating this man made foodwith unknown to science pathogens.
So if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or generally like to be alive for a while, perhaps buying organic is worth it after all.
Real food does not cause infertility.
